Not that anybody cares, but Christmas seems like a good time to PUBLICLY APOLOGIZE to any readers for the tone of the following, which has been bugging me for weeks, and I quote:
: While it's true there's not much logic to your post, what there is may be discerned from the content thereof.
Gimme a break! Why was I even chiming in on somebody else's squabble? I meant to chill out after the Fall Gathering, but it's a work in progress.
New year's resolutions:
1. eschew argumentative postings of any kind (i.e. don't drag lame rc.com-isms over here)
2. avoid high-falootin' words like "eschew"
3. shut up and climb
4. Read more Doug Robinson
5. (leaves to drink a Christmas Guinness & play with tri-cams he got from Santa)
: You say, "talk about changing Quartz," implying that to repair erosion of the ledge caused by climbers would be changing Quartz in a way unacceptable to you. Corbett's extension of it to include trails, etc. would seem to follow reasonably.
: Are you aware that Duane Raleigh, FAist of B.S.D. if not B.S. itself (wasn't that from the California dude that shocked everybody present by drilling? I think that's the way I heard it), recommended a "cheater stone" in the recent Texas Mountaineer's newsletter?
: I personally think chicken-wire on the crag sounds like a bit of an abomination but lugging a so-called "cheater stone" from the bottom to restore the original character of a classic line sounds pretty purist to me.
: And, lay off the pink tri-cams - I just scored one as booty on Lower Scott and don't want it to go into hiding!
: Peace be with y'all
