you're right, it won't be easy. but I don't think we can keep people off of it either, unless we plant poison ivy and briars!!!
my thoughts - I think the base is still good, the sides are OK, its just the soil on top that has washed away. To build it up, it needs to be a spring time project to quickly establish vegetation. we can find similar soil and grasses from a borrow area (gravel pit area) and place soil on the ledge to reach the old horizon (I think about 8 to 10 inches). Then we carefully plant the grass (sod style). Do we need something like chickenwire layers in the soil to help hold it together? I don't know. I hate to place a metal or synthetic anything in the soil there.
