Since I have had some questions asked about the bolt Duane drilled that people started using for Wild Child, I thought I better explain it better than I did before. Some younger climbers have asked what the problem is if Duane retrobolted his own route.
Duane to my knowledge has never retrobolted any of his first ascents. The bolt we started clipping on Wild Child was installed by Duane in order to try and free the aid route Anorexia which starts just to the right of Wild Child. It is actually off route of Wild Child but still can be reached by stretching right. Im sure in Duane's zeal to free Anorexia he didnt realize he had inadvertently made Wild Child easier. He failed to free Anorexia and then moved to
Colorado. I dropped down and pulled the bolts so Anorexia could be aided properly, but I could not get to the bolt in question. After we started using it to lower off on it just became permanent. That's the truth and nothing but the truth so help me God.
