Thanks Terry. The bit about climbing freedoms is just what we all need to keep in mind. You know that what you described is just what I love about climbing as well and I have felt the same constraints. I still remember when I first walked up to Lost Dome and saw Rap Bolters which you had put up the week before. I was back the next weekend and after climbng Rap Bolters (it was easier then before a big hold broke off at the crux) I immediately went to work on The Whipping Post next to it. Likewise, I'll never forget the adventure of discovering Big Whiskey. Like you say you didn't ask anyone you just went to work. It was the essence of the experience I later had on climbs in Utah. Duane called and said get to the Mystery Towers as quick as you can and we had a great adventure on the Hydra
and then Russell and I did the same on the Wondermonger. The point is that those desert climbs full of adventure and mystery were really no different than the ones we had in Oklahoma. It was all great adventure.
I hope we can preserve some this past at Quartz but I'm afraid with so finite a resource it will be difficult. Lets work together to keep as much of that experience as possible.
Sorry about the occupational slight. I knew better it was just more dramatic the way I presented it. What the hell is a hydrogeologist?
